ants

Ants are social insects with six legs and a distinctively segmented body consisting of the head, thorax, and abdomen. Known for their complex colonies and industrious nature, ants are often found in large numbers around food sources, along trails, or nesting in soil and wood. While they play essential roles in ecosystems, such as soil aeration and pest control, their invasions can be a significant nuisance to homeowners. Numerous ant species are present in North Texas, each with its own behavior and nesting habits, making effective management crucial for maintaining a pest-free environment.

Fire Ants

Rover Ants

Fire ants are reddish-brown ants known for their painful stings and large mound nests. Common in the DFW area, they can be dangerous to kids, pets, and people with allergies. Fire ants build colonies in yards, gardens, and even around electrical equipment, making them hard to remove. Their stings cause a burning feeling and itchy bumps. At Wood Crest Pest Control, we quickly and safely treat fire ant infestations so you can enjoy your yard worry-free.

Rover Ants

Rover Ants

Rover ants are tiny, fast ants common in the DFW area. They’re dark brown or black and about 1/16 inch long. You’ll often see them on countertops, sinks, or walls looking for food and water. They don’t bite or sting, but they’re very persistent and hard to get rid of. Their small size lets them hide in tiny cracks, and regular sprays usually don’t work. At Wood Crest Pest Control, we find their nests and use targeted treatments to keep them out for good.

Carpenter Ants

Carpenter ants are large, dark ants that tunnel through wood to build their nests. They don’t eat the wood but hollow it out, which can damage your home. These ants like damp or damaged wood and are common in the DFW area. You might hear them at night inside walls or see sawdust piles near wood. If not treated, carpenter ants can cause serious damage. At Wood Crest Pest Control, we find and remove carpenter ant colonies to protect your home.

Sugar Ants

Odorous House Ants

Sugar ants are small ants that are attracted to sweets and other food left out in your home. Common in the DFW area, they often show up in kitchens, pantries, and around sinks. While they don’t bite or sting, they can quickly become a big nuisance. At Wood Crest Pest Control, we find the source of the problem and use safe, effective treatments to keep sugar ants out of your home.

Odorous House Ants

Odorous House Ants

Odorous house ants are small, dark brown or black ants that get their name from the strong, rotten smell they release when crushed. They’re common in the DFW area and often invade homes in search of sweets and moisture. You’ll usually find them in kitchens, under sinks, or along baseboards. At Wood Crest Pest Control, we locate their hidden nests and provide effective treatments to keep these smelly invaders out of your home.
